This is a special time for my family and I. April is National Donate Life Month. It’s a time we, as an organ recipient family, get to emphasize the need for organ donation and encourage people to make the decision to donate life.
We always have Xander’s donor angel in our hearts and during this month we will take the time to talk about what he has done for us. Unfortunately we don’t know who is he is, we only know he gave us the greatest gift…our son’s life. We give so much thanks to our donor angel and his family, who made a difficult decision to donate their son’s organs. By doing so they not only saved Xander, their son saved others as well. They are our heroes and we are humbled by their compassion.
It’s so important for everyone to become an organ donor. We don’t like to think about where Xander might be if it wasn’t for the kindness and generosity of his donor angel and family. We know how very lucky we were. Currently there are more organs needed than are available and sadly about 18 people die every day while waiting for an organ. This doesn’t need to happen.
PLEASE. Don’t wait. Become an organ donor right now. It’s so easy.
